Some cities like Philadelphia are investing in data and technology systems that can better process & speed up Emergency Rental Assistance Program applications.
Funding from federal emergency relief programs has allowed Philadelphia’s Housing Development Corporation to use money to build a better ERAP application and processing platform.
It has features that improve the service-providers and applicants’ experiences:
- Algorithms to spot key factors that make a person eligible or not
- Inter-agency connections, to allow the platform to learn about the person’s situation from other government agencies
- Customization to allow the team to adjust as the program or the crisis changes
